AGE coordinates and leads to the 14 plus agencies who reach out to 4 Central Texas counties. These classes fit in with the AGE’s current programs of Caregiver Resources and AGE HELP ( Health Equipment Lending Program).
From the press release:
Another new and innovative grant for $98,800 is being announced by St. David’s Foundation for an educational effort through Austin Groups for the Elderly aimed at preventing falls for older Central Texans. A recent report by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office showed that accidental falls cause more deaths than automobile accidents. By partnering with an established and respected organization that already works effectively with senior citizens, the Foundation aims to educate older adults, their families, neighbors and friends about ways to prevent these accidents from happening.
