Press Release: St. David’s Foundation funding expands Caregiver U program

AGE is proud to partner with St David’s foundation on Caregiver U, a collaboration involving 4 counties and 14 local non profit agencies. Last year Caregiver U launched with its first free class for caregiver, “Powerful Tools for Caregiving”

As announced in attached press release St David’s is helping launch the 2nd class , aimed at preventing falls in elderly. All of these classes are FREE to older adults and Caregivers through St. David’s generosity.

AGE coordinates and leads to the 14 plus agencies who reach out to 4 Central Texas counties. These classes fit in with the AGE’s current programs of Caregiver Resources and AGE HELP ( Health Equipment Lending Program).

Another new and innovative grant for $98,800 is being announced by St. David’s Foundation for an educational effort through Austin Groups for the Elderly aimed at preventing falls for older Central Texans. A recent report by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office showed that accidental falls cause more deaths than automobile accidents. By partnering with an established and respected organization that  already works effectively with senior citizens, the Foundation aims to educate older adults, their families, neighbors and friends about ways to prevent these accidents from happening.
