CaregiverU is a collaboration of 20 Central Texas non-profit agencies and community organizations, joining together to bring support and resources to families that are caring for an older loved one.

We are currently offering one course for caregivers and one course for all older adults. Classes are offered at no cost to participants. They are offered multiple times throughout the year at various locations in the Central Texas area, depending on who is teaching and hosting the course.

Currently, CaregiverU has two course offerings:

  • Strong Seniors: A FREE fall prevention program to reduce the risk of devastating falls in older adults, and to help seniors develop an active, healthy lifestyle.  Class schedule is available on the Strong Seniors tab.  More classes will soon be added .

Caregiver U is brought to the community by:

AGE of Central Texas (formerly Austin Groups for the Elderly) is the host non-profit organization leading the CaregiverU collaboration.  AGE has been serving caregivers, seniors, and their families with information, resources, and support in Central Texas since 1986. CaregiverU is made possible with generous funding by the St. David’s Foundation.  St. David’s Foundation invests in a healthy community through funding, hard work, and initiatives to better care for the underserved and uninsured. 1. I am so excited about this class! The last 5 yrs of being a caregiver for my Mother and Father have been really hard. One day you are just living your life, working, walking the dog, etc and in a split second your live can be turned upside down and no more job, less money and no more dog walking or less dog walking! The adjustments just never ends. I am thankful for the help we have been given by our friends “The Gathering”, without them the last year would have been even more difficult! Mom can no longer go to “The Gathering”, so we are at loss at what to do to get “A Break”. I hope to gain much need knowledge and support, thank you St. Davids for taking time to help the Caregiver, I know the classes will be a tremendous help!
